Is there something like an electrical surge

that can "blow out" your mouse and keyboard? Mine have suddenly and simultaneously died. I know because their lights no longer are on and I tried both on another computer.

1. It's a new one on me, but...

...I guess it's possible - if they are both PS/2 (round connectors) or both USB they'll share some circuitry in the system, and a short might knock them out. If that's the case, your PC's in trouble.

2. Agreed. The PS/2 connectors were known to die as a pair
