Keyboard crapped out, time for a new laptop

I think it might be time for a new laptop. I like to play games on Facebook, I know they're silly but they help me escape and give my hands something to to other then shovel food into my face.

I need to know what to look for in a new computer so my games play smoothly

So there any hope of restoring the keyboard?

Try an external USB or wireless one. Downwinder Apr 2015 #4
Keyboard is replaceable. On most laptops fairly easy. hobbit709 Apr 2015 #5

depending on the model. If you let us know the brand and model of your laptop, we could look at how much hassle/cost it's likely to be.

An alternative is to use a USB keyboard (I do this anyway, as I need the improved feel and alternative key arrangements for my daily work).

However, it sounds like you want to upgrade anyway, which is a different issue. In that case, I don't know whether you'd be intending to keep your old one as a spare or for other uses, but if you were looking to sell it, obviously one with a fully working keyboard would fetch a better price (a tradeoff between the cost of replacing the keyboard and selling it as is for a lower price).

Some keys not working or working erratically? Or is it completely dead?

There are replacement keyboards available for most laptops, on some they are quite easy to replace while on others they are a nightmare.

If you give the make and model of laptop you have it would be helpful to further advice.

with all of us saying basically the same thing.

I'll probably back out unless it's a laptop I'm familiar with, as too many cooks and all that.

Since I don't take my laptop anywhere, I have an iPad for that, I'll get a separate USB keyboard. Thanks so much for the suggestion!

Brilliant

Less than $11 for a USB keyboard and my laptop is back in business. My grandson is happily playing away. Thank you all for a great suggestion.
