recently updated to windows 8 or whatever is the latest version.
have been using Mozilla for years. now i frequently get pop up saying something along the lines of "you are loading an octstream??? whatever?" what do you want to do with this? Save file? open using? and so on.

Octet stream is a word commonly used in computer networking to refer to a bit stream or data that is grouped into bytes having the length of eight bits. These bytes are known as octets. Formally, an octet stream is a communications conduit through which a sequence of bytes can be sent between the two ends of the conduit.

The application/octet-stream MIME type simply means that the data being served is binary. Many webmail sites will serve attachments with this MIME type so that browser will download the file rather than try to open it. The MIME type does not impact the file in any other way.

Take a look at this: http://www.ehow.com/how_7517528_can-open-octetstream.html

Hope this helps.
