But in this case I will as it's Labour MP Simon Danczuk who's been stung. An MP whose sole positive contribution has been campaigning against child sex abuse is also partial to sexually harrassing 17 year old girls.

In case you are wondering, Simon Danczuk is the most rabidly, obsessively anti-Corbyn MP in Parliament. A shameless self publicist and hard right bully who was describing the Sun as a "National Treasure" only a month ago.

I guess this goes to show that it really doesn't pay to suck up to the tabloids.

(14,737 posts)Simon Danczuk really does present a strong case in favour of Labour introducing mandatory reselection for it's MP's.

(41,205 posts)it would just lead to even more infighting than there is now.
However, someone who misuses his position in this way would deserve to be deselected.

(2,025 posts)That's a fear amongst a lot of Labour old school. I don't think reselection should be mandatory unless the MP has had the whip withdrawn.
This one should go, he's disloyal, a self publicist and a creep. We don't need people like that in the party.

The case for deselecting the hypocritical little creep has just got a lot stronger.
The biggest argument against mandatory reselection IMHO is what's happening with Stella Creasy. Even if she isn't "ideologically pure" enough for some, she's an outstanding and effective campaigning MP. Attempts to deselect her are completely wrongheaded and will only serve to discredit the idea of mandatory deselection.

(41,205 posts)OK, I was grateful to Danczuk for showing up the tabloids in 2010 by gaining a seat for Labour in the very location of 'Bigotgate'; but could he please go away now; he has long ago become a big nuisance.
One thing that I hadn't realized is that he is the one who went to the police to get them to prosecute Chris Huhne - somehow I'd thought it was Vicky Pryce herself. While I am no fan of speeding, or lying about it, this IMO shows Danczuk to be an even more sanctimonious bastard than I'd thought he was.

(7,233 posts)for quite a while now, certainly in terms of his well-publicized personal life/strife.
If that continues, deselection may be a moot point.
