Posthumous pardon requested for hanged Welsh miner Dic Penderyn

Welsh miner Dic Penderyn was hanged nearly 200 years ago.
ITV News has learned that a posthumous pardon is to be formally requested for a Welsh miner hanged nearly 200 years ago.

Richard Lewis, better known as Dic Penderyn, was sentenced to death for stabbing a soldier in the Merthyr uprising of 1831.

People at the time protested his innocence and his case has been cited as a grave miscarriage of justice for generations.
