Cardinal Keith O'Brien resigns as Archbishop

Britain's most senior Roman Catholic cleric, Cardinal Keith O'Brien, is stepping down as the Archbishop of St Andrews and Edinburgh.

It follows allegations - which he contests - of inappropriate behaviour towards priests dating from the 1980s.

The Vatican is expected to confirm Pope Benedict has accepted his resignation.

1. Another Roman Catholic Cleric Gets Caught with His Cassock Hanging Out.

Resigning and trying to get out of the public eye generally makes one appear guilty whether one is or not.

All the complaints come from adults who were adults at the time of the alleged conduct. It will be interesting to see if some others come forward who might have been approached when they were still minors.

2. So, he calls for priests to marry, and the church to accept same sex marriage

and how long did it take them to get him to resign...a couple of days? All of a sudden all the "allegations" surface. Interesting lesson in what happens when you go up against the Catholic power structure.

3. He didn't call for the church to accept same-sex marriage...

he is very opposed to any sort of legalization of same-sex marriage, and said it would 'shame the UK'.
