A Guardian oddity

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/oct/04/romney-obama-first-presidential-debate?intcmp=122

All I can say is that I am surprised.

1. Oddity?

It seems a fairly typical summing up - if you wade through GD, you'll find plenty of "Obama is screwing this up" posts.

BBC too: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-19825603

2. Yep

Reaction I've seen has been that Romney did well and Obama didn't. Not just Grauniad but most of the main stream media, heck even my twitterfeed has taken that view.

Haven't seen the debate but I have come to the conclusion that Sir Mixalot should be the next President of the United States. Not only does he like big butts, but also he cannot lie, which is more then can be said for 99% of politicans!

3. I haven't seen it either...

but someone who did told me that Obama seemed quiet and thoughtful and Romney confident and rather frenetic. Which would make me prefer Obama (even if I didn't already) but some people may equate arrogance with expertise, and self-belief with authority.

5. True - but not really relevant to this thread - did you mean to post on the 'train wreck' thread?

7. Body language was interesting in the debate.

Someone coached Romney well. He stood tall, looked directly at the camera, and came across as confident.
Obama DID look tired,, and he dropped his gaze a lot.

however..Romney also showed his inability to play well with others.
He over rode the moderator ( who should have been armed with a tazer, IMO), and he said things like " This is the topic I want to talk about", frequently going over and arguing with Lerher about the time limit.
Worse of all , he kept calling the President "you" when referring to him.
Watching the re-run without sound, just to watch the body language, would be instructive.
