which poppy did you wear? the red, or the white?

7. It's meant to represent a combination of remembrance of the fallen

and opposition to future wars, so that no one else would die young in a war.

You should know that if you're going to wear it.

8. Thanks for the info! Really appreciate it.

Been getting them for years from vet orgs (am a vet) but never knew there was any significance to the colors.

2. I've warmed up to the white one in recent years.

Mainly because of the military-worship that has escalated since neo-cons took over. "Lest we forget" has been narrowed down to remembering the contributions of soldiers, but the "Never again" aspect of the futility of warfare is fading.

4. The red poppies dance..the countless white crosses in mute witness stand...

Liam Clancy sings Eric Bogle's song:

The sun shining down on these green fields of France
The warm wind blows gently and the red poppies dance
The trenches have vanished long under the plow
No gas, no barbed wire, no guns firing now
But here in this graveyard that's still no man's land
The countless white crosses in mute witness stand
To man's blind indifference to his fellow man
And a whole generation were butchered and damned
