This state is going to be MORE divided now

Sorry, folks, I'd like to be the 'bigger' person and say, "well, ok, we fought the good fight and lost" but...

I cannot.

I will not spend any money in this, my home state, that I do not have to spend. (Luckily I can quite easily go to Minnesota).

I will not go quietly.

If you had a "I stand with Walker" sign in your yard, you are dead to me.

As a student of history, I see our state, and our nation, about as polarized as we were before the Civil War. Tom Barrett may concede, but I will not.

I will not.

1. "...about as polarized as we were before the Civil War."

I'm really beginning to believe that liberals need to choose a region, move there en masse, and run our states the way we see fit.

And fuck the rest of them.

I'm glad I don't live in WI, AZ or NC -

4. I have to confess to similar feelings.

At least as far as spending money goes, it's less a vendetta than practicality. Under this idiotic administration, I will be saving every penny I can to cover my ass when the impending economic disaster hits.

And I damn well won't be putting it in a bank where the Wanker love just oozes out the doors and where it costs me more in gas to deposit and withdraw than it will earn in interest. I'll bury it in the fucking back yard like they had to do in the old days before I'll give bankers one more dime than necessary.

There are a lot of businesses where I won't be spending money anymore. But that's no different than I've done since the days of Bush II. Just a few more on the list than there used to be. The fact is, I just won't be spending any more than necessary.

I can't disagree on the sense of division in our state at least. The jury is still out for me on the nation.

What I worry about most, what has me sharing your feelings on people with "stand with wanker" signs, is what their actions will do to hurt children, seniors and the disabled. You don't stomp carelessly on the people in this society with the least power. You don't take away their only means to get by or even destroy their means to get ahead (education).

I can never forgive them for that.

6. Amen.

There are many businesses that will never see another penny from me. There are many people I will no longer associate with.

10. Yes, for us who are history students

we KNOW that this is how it was right before, during, and certainly closely after, the US Civil War. When they say 'brother against brother' they ain't a kiddin'! It's not just some cute, quainte phrase. People did cut off acquaintances and relatives. I will be now, also.

7. Agreed. The Walker supporter friends and acquaintances are being douches today.

Every one is getting this from me the moment they start:

"Look, there are enough people being assholes to me today and I would appreciate if you would NOT be one of them. This isn't a football game; peoples' lives are affected."

So far they have all STFU.

8. During The Recount in 2000

I was working part-time at a fancy Mortgage Broker place - they were all GOP and downright ugly and very vocal with their nasty comments about Al Gore. I seriously despised them - of course, they all lost their jobs when the housing market went bust...boo hoo.

9. I have sure thought about you a lot today

being pretty upset over here on the 'west coast'. Tired of being told to 'get over it'. This time it is REALLY personal. I have lived through enough defeats to know, yeah, ok, life goes on. But folks are NOT really getting how this was an intensely fought battle and intensely disappointing loss.

If I am the only one who feels good about not spending money here (and it looks like I'm not) fine, so be it. I can only control 'me' (and last night, I wasn't sure about that even!).

I don't have to financially support this state any more than I am obligated to do so. I used to make sure I bought a few things here in my local town to keep the jobs here. Really? 60% of my county went for Walker. So tough, folks, hope HE comes and buys gas at your convenience store, grocery store, etc. Won't be me.

11. and I you

I'm slightly less livid after the Lehman win, but only slightly.

I'm surrounded by the brainwashed masses and low information voters. And, like you, I'm more inclined to spend my money supporting people who won't support that shit.

They vote against their own interests stupidly and blindly and are convinced that public workers and all unions are evil. They think government sucks unless it's invading lady parts and "the gays". They think taxes are slavery but bitch about roads that suck. Ugh. Fools!!

15. I live in a GOPpie hell hole, too.

It's hard to find businesses in my area communities that are run by Dems. I'm much more likely to head to Eau Claire or Wausau where I know the population is more Democratic and spend my money there.

And if I have to hit a convenience store, I head for the coops. They no longer have to stay out of politics (given the all clear like corporations have been) but they a lot of members to answer to. They might be run by conservatives, but they rarely promote conservative fuckwits.

12. and further, I come here and am stalked by assholes who call me names

Accuse *me* of being on Koch payroll or a tea bagger when I try to correct misinformation. There are very very very few things I can speak about here with inside and direct knowledge and an air of authority, but the goings on in this state, specifically my county is one. And I will.

16. I too feel the gulf widening between Walker supporters & me.

Several of my friends voted for Walker & I personally don't know how I can feel comfortable relating with them.
It's unbelievable to me how they can support him--it's not as if they didn't have the information. I had several conversations with them about him. It was unreal to me how Walker could sit in the 2nd debate with Barrett & hear about how he has a practice of hiring felons (an indisputable fact) and not even wince! I don't get it!!
I also cannot imagine Kleefish becoming governor when Walker either resigns/steps down--tho I think the indictments will mean little to him & he'll just keep rolling as governor until forced to resign/impeachment. I think he'd even govern from jail!

This all seems like some unreal nightmare to me! If it weren't for You All I'd probably have gone off the deep end!! I have immense admiration and gratitude for all the WI members! I would have liked to be more active but I still work in an intensive care unit & have to get sleep before I go. Some days I have to be in the unit well before 0700. I'm 61 yrs. old and it's getting a little harder these days. But I have contributed as much as I can.
I want to thank You All & say that I won't give up! Justice comes slowly often but it comes surely!! I had a few low points but I have faith that the truth will prevail!! Our seeds will bear fruit--we cannot think or feel it is/was all for nothing!! Maybe it won't work out exactly as we imagined it would but it will work out for the better somehow!!
As Alan Grayson says, "Courage"!!

18. Thank you for sharing that, hue.

And thank you for helping in whatever way you could. It's tough times for everyone. We're either working extra jobs, or maybe just extra hours, or we're out of money or we're giving our time to our family and friends who need us.

What made this past 16 months so meaningful for me was seeing so many people who were in difficult circumstances themselves put forth something dear, whether it was time, money, a voice in a letter to the editor or a chat with a grousing neighbor.

Courage, hue, and thank YOU.

20. I agree with you hue, and thank all of the DUers

who have been supportive. I am damn sick and tired of the 'you Wisconsin people get what you deserve". Really? Even those of us who poured our hearts and souls into this? And I have looked for your posts, Nikki, so know there are some of us who really appreciated your work.

PeaceNikki, hue, sybilla, and all of you folks who have posted here, THANK YOU ALL.

I kept hearing the lies Walker was spewing (from February 11, 2011 on...) and kept waiting for the folks here to wise up and say, "No shit, really?". But like the gullibles they are, they swallowed it hook, line, and sinker. No critical thinking going on.

It is a nightmare, alright. And the sheeple are too dumb to realize they are all on the way to the slaughterhouse (sorry, a bit graphic for this vegetarian, I apologize). But folks, this HUGE money bomb dropped on WI, it will come to all of the outlying states, and then maybe a few of the more intelligent of the sheeple will see what the real problem was here, it sure in hell wasn't lack of hard work or lack of enthusiasm.

And stay out of Kwik Trip convenience stores---major Walker supporters.

21. I do not shop at businesses with known Walker/repub ties.

Most businesses seem to have the sense not to make their political leanings known, however. There are only a few that I know of -Johnsonville sausage and a few local business that I know of. Fortunately, I have few friends who would put up a pro Walker sign.

22. We are on the same page then

no Georgia Pacific (Koch owned) products, like Brawny, Northern tissue, Vanity Fair, Dixie cups, etc.

No Sargento cheese.
No Johnsonville products (easy for me, I'm a vegetarian)

There is a pretty good list on Facebook if you go there. It is "Boycott Walker Contributors" (or something quite close to that...)

Thanks for your reply. I also suggest a little book called The Blue Pages: a Directory of Companies Rated by Their Politics and Practices from the Center for Responsive Politics
