Feingold Being Pressured To Run For Governor
Feingold: Will Not Run If There's A Recall Election

MADISON, Wis. -- Former Senator Russ Feingold said Monday he feels pressure to run for governor, but will not put his name a ballot if there is a recall election against Gov. Scott Walker.

"I wanna help," Feingold said. "I don't want to be leading the charge on this particular issue. I think we have people like Kathleen Falk, potentially people like Tom Barrett, who actually have executive experience who can walk into the governor's mansion, the governor's office the next day, and be ready to go because they have that kind of experience. I think they fit the bill."

Feingold said while teaching in California, he was even asked about a possible candidacy. But he said he is not interested.

Not many politicians are able to set aside their egos and endorse others whom they feel are better qualified for the office in question.

He is being a little disingenuous with the whole Falk and Barrett thing. There's no comparison; he is clearly the person to do this.

He doesn't want to run- got burned by the Right in the last election, Governor's Office is beneath him, whatever- it's his decision, just don't be disingenuous, Russ...

He certainly was disappointed by his loss, but I think saying that it's beneath him goes some distance beyond the available evidence.

He's a good man and, after all, it is his life. He has said repeatedly that the governorship isn't what he wants.

doesnt know who else is running - WHAT EVER.

No one's asking him to be governor forever and ever, I think if someone like him with statesman status or a wise elder who knows the ropes and has some bipartisan cred were to step in for a limited time and just focus on getting some semblance of functional, open honest government back, and undo some of the more egregious legislation, that would be enough

Governor is more viable stepping stone to president... 4 yrs from now Russ is going to be yesterday's news.

Keep hearing rumors of Peter Barca running but.... listen Pete, time's a wastin. Get in there. I agree with someone from another thread who mentioned that the gov should be someone who emerged as a leader during the struggle of the past year - sorta like they elected Ike Eisenhower after WW2. It just seems appropriate somehow.
