...........When pressed by Senator Jon Erpenbach (D-Middleton) about whether the DNR would sell naming rights for state parks, Stepp said, All ideas are on the table. Erpenbach asked, Youre looking for corporate sponsorship to sell naming rights?
Well, Stepp responded, were currently not looking to do that now, but these are all gonna be parts of the discussion that I look forward to getting legislative input on in the next two years.
The DNR wont sell the parks, Stepp said,.......
Governor Scott Walkers budget proposal would cut tax dollars from state parks, and raise admission and camping fees.
The DNR could authorize sponsorships and naming rights without legislative approval.

(14,255 posts)five golf courses in Florida state parks, while granting cronies rights to build hotels along with the golf courses. And - such construction would have been totally exempt from any local development rules. Including liquor licenses. Sweet deal!
All costs would have been picked up by taxpayers, by issuing bonds. And presumably paid back through fees.
At the time, Florida had over 1000 golf course, many of which were struggling.
Arnold Palmer, ironically, helped quash the bill.
Oh, and Nicklaus has his own lobbyist in Tallahassee. And Scott was busy cutting money from things like schools.
