"Updated - Joe Wineke confirmed this morning on the Joy Cardin show (WPR) that he will likely seek the nomination of chair of the Wisconsin Democratic Party.
Wineke served as chair from 2005-09 and served in the state assembly and state senate.
"I've boiled it down to 14 words and three messages: Quit playing defense all the time. Message matters. And you can't beat somebody with nobody," said Wineke.
Wineke alluded to the fact that many Wisconsin legislative races featured no democratic candidates."

(4,438 posts)The one I would add is this - Be prepared to fight a long battle. Hate to be a downer, but we're getting hammered by the Repukes and it's going to take a long time to turn things around.

his message may be correct but he lead us down the path to the Cable Deregulation Bill as a paid lobbyist (while he was Chair) for AT&T.

(8,502 posts)But as someone who has been involved in the party for 13 years, I can assure you that Mike Tate is 100 times the chair Joe Wineke was.
Look. I am betting, with all the Democrats who lost races this year, there will be at least a couple interested in this position who would do far better than Tate or Wineke. This could be the most interesting race for Democrats in 2013.
