1. Director needed for Campus Election Engagement Project
Tue Jan 6, 2015, 01:28 AM
Jan 2015

[email protected]

As I've described in my updates, our Campus Election Engagement Project has just wrapped up its first midterm election programming and is gearing up for 2016. As you may know, we’re a national non-partisan project that helps colleges and universities use their institutional resources to get students involved in elections, helping faculty, administrators, and student leaders help students register, volunteer, learn about the issues, and turn out at the polls. We pull together the most effective approaches from schools throughout the country to help campuses do this, and our outreach staffers coach the schools, with the support of our national team, on how best to implement them. We worked in roughly 20 states in both 2012 and 2014.

We’ll use 2015 to continue working with key schools, laying the groundwork for programs that require long-lead time planning, and maintaining institutional momentum and relationships with key campus staff so can we pick up in 2016 where we’ve left off. Because we don’t have enough resources for an outreach staffer in every state, we’re looking to hire a smaller continuing team who will each take three to six of our targeted 2016 states, and continue engaging their schools with sustained but scaled-back support. As before, these staffers will work through our state Campus Compact partners, building on contacts developed in 2014 to keep momentum going at their major participating schools. Our national staffers will again provide ongoing coaching and updated engagement resources. We’re recruiting for a 2015 position, but with the goal of keeping the person on through 2016.

As described in the attached, we're looking for a strong self-starter with an ability to work with key campus stakeholders, like administrators, faculty, and student leaders, including senior administrators like Vice Presidents of Student Affairs. Since the outreach will be by phone, they'll need to be comfortable working remotely, and of course being non-partisan. Campus organizing experience would be particularly helpful, especially in roles like student government where the candidate would have worked with both administrators and students. Community or electoral organizing experience may be another alternative. If you know someone who'd be a good fit, please have them send a resume and letter of interest to our Campus Election Engagement Project's National Director. We'll be taking resumes through Jan 16.

ABOUT THE CAIR PROJECT

The Community Abortion Information & Resource (CAIR) Project opened in August 1999, premised on a belief that women and all people have a right to choose among a full range of reproductive options. The CAIR Project believes that information and financial access are necessary for that right to have meaning. We know that restrictions on abortion access and funding are discriminatory because they especially burden poor people and families, people of color and those who live in rural areas.

The CAIR Project is an independent non-profit organization providing financial assistance, information, and referrals to people seeking abortion. Our stellar team of trained volunteer advocates manage our toll-free hotline, fielding calls from people in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.

The CAIR Project is a member of the National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF), a membership organization of over 100 funds across the United States. Our working board is responsible for fundraising, program management, strategic planning, fiscal management, outreach, recruitment and training and project development. Serving on the board is a fantastic opportunity to share expertise and learn new skills in these areas.

Our funds come primarily through individual donors, who share our dedication to ensuring that all women and people have the means and information available to choose the reproductive options best for them. The CAIR Project is a 501(c)3 organization, thus contributions are tax-deductible.

9. WAMend needs a treasurer
Sat Jan 16, 2016, 10:18 PM
Jan 2016

WAmend has a volunteer treasurer. We also have volunteer IT help, website help, you name it. We have volunteers that maybe didn't collect signatures but without their specialized skills we would have had to raise a lot more money than we did.

Our current treasurer did an awesome job besides saving us a ton of money by volunteering his services. He is moving on from that position and we are looking for a new treasurer. Do you know accounting, quickbooks and understand PDC rules? Do you know of someone who does? Please respond to this email if you rare interested or know someone who might be.

Do you have some other skill that you think would be helpful? Are you a whizz at Nationbuilder? Got office space near a major bus line? We love our current location but parking is a bit of a problem.
