Progressive Talk Radio team has formed

Dear Progressive Talk Listeners,

Thank you all for offering to help bring Progressive Talk Radio back to the NW! We have been working to make it happen, and this is the next step:

Volunteer Web Designer Hero

We are looking for a knowledgeable volunteer to develop a web site for Progressive Radio Seattle (PRS). This developer would design the site and make it user-friendly. The site requirements would be established by the PRS Team with the help, skill and creativity of the website developer. Ideally we would like to have a web interface that can provide useful information regarding our purpose and progress, and has the capacity to attract interested individuals to our cause.

We have someone who has offered to manage the day-to-day operation of the site, if needed. The PRS Team is willing to raise the funds to establish a domain and pay for the hosting the site itself (an example of a possible provider is freeservers.com, although there are many other possible hosting services).

Below is a list of some of the additional needs we believe will help as we move forward. Do you have expertise in:

· Managing radio stations and operations/ programming
· Understanding of the economics of radio
· Raising capital/finance
· Organizing
· Political campaigns and fundraising
· Corporate law; law backgrounds; co-op law
· Website/Social media
· Bookkeeping/accounting
· Data admin (keeping track of email correspondence and other tasks TBD)
· Other skills/experiences that may be of value

"Do you know someone or know of someone who has the ability to purchase a local radio station, or has funds to contribute?”

“Do you have any connections with any of the local radio stations that might have an interest in the progressive talk format?”

Would you attend a Planning meeting/Rally held in the Seattle area?

Please reply to [email protected], and explain your area of interest and the skills that you would like to volunteer. We would certainly appreciate any professional help we could get in this regard.

Thank you!
The Progressive Radio Seattle (PRS) Team

P.S. Please feel free to share this request with others who may have these skills, or who know of people who do, or who just want to be on our mailing list.

UPDATE! Can you help? email us at: [email protected]

The Progressive Radio in Seattle (PRS) Team met with Seattle Councilman Nick Licata on January 15th and shared what we have done so far in our efforts to save progressive radio in Seattle. He was very supportive and offered us several suggestions of organizations and people who may be helpful to us as we go forward.

Our SignOn petition now has nearly 9,100 signatures, and there is another petition that was launched on change.org that has nearly 900 signatures. An electronic version of these signatures has been created.

We have prepared a list of ways to access progressive talk shows in the Seattle Area, including the AM and FM stations that are carrying some of the programs and ways to access the shows on line. Here is the link (you may need to copy and paste): http://sdrv.ms/10jpp9R (On the site, you’ll see the listing for “Progressive Radio Users Guide”).

Currently, we are looking for help to go forward on numerous possibilities. Please let us know if:

You know someone, or you know of someone, who has the financial resources to purchase a local radio station that would convert to the progressive talk format;

You have a connection with someone who works with one of the local radio stations who you think would be interested in talking about carrying progressive talk shows.

We are also looking for a knowledgeable volunteer to develop a web site for Progressive Radio Seattle (PRS). This developer would design the site and make it user-friendly. The site requirements would be established by the PRS Team with the help, skill and creativity of the website developer. Ideally we would like to have a web interface that can provide useful information regarding our purpose and progress, and that has the capacity to attract interested individuals to our cause.

If you have any interest in working with us, please send an email to: [email protected]

Hello Progressive Radio Seattle (PRS) Listeners,

We continue to work towards bringing progressive radio back to Seattle! Below is a very brief update:

1. An email site is ready for your use, please write to: [email protected]

* * *
2. Here is the direct link to the public folder on the Cloud: http://sdrv.ms/10jpp9R?utm_source=supporter_message&utm_medium=email

Posted there for your perusal:

· Carl Wolfson’s Morning Show is BACK in Portland, Oregon, streaming live! Check out his flyer for the link! Cool that they are making progress! CarlWolfson.com

· Progressive Radio Users Guide – to find your progressive talkers locally live, streaming on-line, or via numerous devices.

· List of ways to help! NOTE: We apologize if we have not gotten back to you if you have offered to help. We have been collecting your contact info, and will definitely be in touch! More help will be needed. Be in touch!

· Update to Petition Signers, sent: 1/18/13

3. We met with Nick Licata of Seattle City Council. He is concerned about the loss of progressive voices in the NW, and gave us some interesting angles to follow up!

4. Several radio experts have volunteered to meet with us to give us the inside scoop on operating a radio station!

5. Do you have any rich, generous progressive contacts?

6. There is a model of a successful community-owned commercial radio station in Minneapolis that we are following up on.

7. Remember, to sign the petitions, and pass them along. Collectively, we have over 10,000 signatures, but Oregon has 30,000!

Change.org - Will you take 30 seconds to sign it right now? Here's the link:
http://www.change.org/petitions/save-progressive-talk-radio-am-1090-kptk-cbs-radio-seattle-keep-am-1090-kptk-progressive-talk-radio-on-the-free-airwaves. You can sign this important petition by clicking here.

MoveON.org petition:
That's why I created a petition on SignOn.org to the advertisers and program director at Seattle AM Radio Station 1090, which says:
Don't let Seattle lose progressive radio! As a local radio listener, I pledge to support with my dollars any advertiser on any station that chooses to broadcast progressive programming.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.
Thanks!

We are confident that we're either going to see an existing radio station pick up progressive radio in Seattle - or better yet, an investor group come together to fund a whole new progressive talk radio station.

The road ahead is long. But hey, Portland has scored a big early win, and we can do the same! Listen to Carl's show, call in (toll-free 877-CARL-066), tell your friends, and patronize his sponsors. As Big Eddie says: “You know what to do!”

We want to assure you that we are working on the need to bring progressive radio back to Seattle. We'll be in touch with next steps - as well as other opportunities to put this community into action for our progressive priorities.

Thank you, and "Tag you're it!" (Thom Hartmann)
