San Antonio recommendations?
Hi all...my wife and I live in Houston, but are going to San Antonio on 12/30, and leaving 1/1. Any comments or thoughts on what sort of things we could do while we're there? We were planning on taking in the riverwalk and seeing if there are any bands playing, or catching the symphony, etc. Any thoughts would be appreciated. We like plays, classical music, rock/indie music, beer, food...
I should mention our hotel is about a block from the riverwalk (the Menger), and also that 12/31 will be our 20th anniversary...! Thanks in advance!

1. New Year's Eve in Hemisfair Park is always a big deal

If you're at the Menger, it's a short walk to the park for the festivities. Lots of bands, etc. The whole area will be swarming with activities.
You can go to mySA.com to see what's happening for those dates as well. |

2. The Japanese Tea Gardens (Sunken Gardens) is an old quarry with plants, waterfalls & fishing ponds.

It's a nice place to relax and it is free. They might have music playing on occasion.
Also check out Breckenridge Park and the zoo. If you want to check out a cool neighborhood, I suggest the King William district which has a lot of older homes built by the German settlers. All of these are in close proximity to where you are staying. I'm sorry that I don't have any suggestions for food or musical venues, but it's been awhile since I lived there. Have fun Katyman! |
