Related: About this forumOK Texas DU'ers! Early voting starts on Monday.
Can you please commit to me at least one, but preferably more, of the following?
1. You will vote early.
2. You will call and/or email 5 friends and get them to commit to vote early. And follow up with them (and ask them to ask for the same commitment).
3. You will work on election day as an election official, a lawyer for your county party, GOTV, or helping a campaign.
I am doing all three. I am voting early on Thursday the 25th in Harris County. I have gotten 42 people to commit to vote early and to get 5 of their friends to vote early too. I am an Alternate Election Judge on election day.

(3,440 posts)And early voting, IMHO, is safer because it is more deliberate. Election day is crazy and mistakes can happen more easily.

(404 posts)Admittedly, I am hesitant to vote early for two reasons;
1) I have a weird, unfounded fear that early votes won't get counted properly, much like absentee ballots.
2) I'd be much more excited if I could see TX poll that doesn't show rMoney with 19 pt lead. I know that registrations are at an all time high but a 19 pt lead is hard to swing.

(2,470 posts)Texas is not a battleground state nor is it remotely in play BUT we are a powerful army of volunteers to get out the vote in battleground states and that is the critical strategy that will help get Obama re-elected. Please contact the Obama campaign or the local county Democratic Party HQ and volunteer in GOTV efforts.

(3,440 posts)There is a great democrat running against him - Candace Duval Manges. She needs all the vocal and active support and help she can get. She's on top of things and I know would love any help you can give her.
Also, I think you are in the Crazy Doctor Woman's district - Dr. Donna Campbell. She beat Jeff Wentworth for the Republican nomination for that state senate seat - I think it is Senate 25. There is another great democrat, John Courage, running against her. She is a bad person with worse ideas. So see, you have plenty of reasons to vote. You may have an important State Board of Education race too - I don't know if you are in Rebecca's district or not.

(112,065 posts)This will be my first time to vote here and I expect it will also be the last time since I'm here temporarily.
Since this is a red area, I might have some some fun with my attire when I vote that day. Being a white middle-age male, I'm debating whether going in business clothes to see how many Republicans approach me or wearing a tie-dye shirt, tie-dye do-rag and other clothing that may elicit comments about me being part of the 47%.
I'm also willing to listen to other suggestions though.

Are you in Brenham?

(112,065 posts)I think that I'll be transplanting some of the "Keep Austin Weird" vibes to the area while I'm here.
I'm beginning to see some Romney/Ryan signs in a few front yards, but I haven't spotted many Obama signs in the area.

(17,291 posts)1. I plan to be in line when early voting starts on Monday.
2. Pretty much everyone I know will be voting early even without my urging. Those who will be voting the wrong way I'll advise to wait until November 7 and avoid the crowds.
3. On Election Day I'll be helping a friend who is running for a seat on a limited district board. I love elections that involve a precinct or two because that's actual human-scale democracy.
Let's kick some GOP ass!
