Grand Saline principal arrested, accused of endangering children
GRAND SALINE - The Grand Saline Middle School principal is facing felony charges after a Friday incident in which authorities say he put his children in danger as he attempted to use his vehicle to force his estranged wife's vehicle off the roadway.
Van Zandt County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Michael Bates said Brad L. Swain's wife called 911 and reported her husband was trying to run her off the roadway Friday as they drove from Martins Mill on Farm-to-Market Road 16 toward Van about 3 p.m. Friday.
"We learned she had filed divorce papers and had those served along with a restraining order, and he was trying to get her to pull over as he drove in a reckless manner," Bates said.
Bates said Van police were made aware of the call, and they got in behind Swain, 41, and tried to stop him, but he initially refused to pull over.
