GOPs Rogers faces felony assault charge
Johnnie B. Rogers, a member of the Texas Republican partys executive committee from Burnet County, has been charged with third degree felony assault following an election night altercation with a reporter for the Burnet Bulletin.
Rogers turned himself in Friday morning at the Burnet County jail, where he was booked on the third degree felony and release on a $5,000 cash bond, set by Marble Falls Municipal Judge Cheryl Pounds.
Burnet Police Chief Paul Nelson explained that state law automatically classifies cases of assault involving a victim 65-years-old or more as felony crimes, punishable by 2-10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. James Walker, the newspapers community editor, is 65.

(145,046 posts)1. Juanita Jean has some fun with this story
Susan Bankston does a good job of laying out the facts of this story http://juanitajean.com/2012/06/02/news-flash-republicans-and-the-press-still-not-getting-along/ I love this fact
Johnnie is on the state Republican executive committee. Thats a big damn deal. Theres only 31 men on that executive committee in all of Texas and one of them is a damn felonious pugilist. I gotta admit that is shocking, even to me.

I am planning on voting for Susan Bankston to be a delegate to the Democratic National Convention from SD18. She has promised to blog and tweet from the Convention.
