UT Southwestern to open medical center in FW with $25m donation from Tex Moncrief

UT Southwestern will open a medical center in Fort Worth with a $25 million commitment from Texas oilman W.A. “Tex” Moncrief Jr., officials announced Friday.

The campus, to be named after Moncrief and his father, Monty Moncrief, is described as UT Southwestern’s first named campus outside of Dallas.

Fort Worth is already home to the UT Southwestern Moncrief Cancer Institute, which was opened in the 1960s as the Moncrief Radiation Center with contributions from Monty Moncrief and his wife and transferred to UT Southwestern in 1999.

The UT Southwestern Monty and Tex Moncrief Medical Center will be built in Fort Worth’s growing medical district, expanding services to residents of Fort Worth and surrounding areas.
