South by Southwest (SXSW) is a set of film, interactive, and music festivals and conferences that take place early every year (usually in March) in Austin, Texas, United States. It began in 1987, and has continued to grow in size every year. In 2011, the conference lasted for 10 days, with SXSW Interactive lasting for five, Music for six, and Film running concurrently for nine days.

South by Southwest is run by a company, called SXSW Inc., that plans and executes conferences, trade shows, festivals and other events.[1] In addition to the three main South by Southwest festivals, the company runs three other conferences, two in Austin: SXSWedu, a conference on educational innovation,[2] and SXSW Eco, an environmental conference;[3] and one in Las Vegas: SXSW V2V, a conference focused on innovative startups.[4]

While there are some outdoor concerts, most of the venues are bars and theaters. It's grown so large and grown so expensive that many native Austin residents have boycotted the event. It used to be for aspiring musicians, but it has gone somewhat corporate with big names like Lady Gaga this past year. Jimmy Kimmel Live was broadcast for an entire week on ABC late night. Julian Assange and Snowden were part of the interactive video feeds.

I remember that he caused quite a stir when he first appeared on the access cable TV shows. However, my favorite on the access cable TV shows was the drag queen, Carmen Banana and her cooking show that came on at about 10:30 p.m. on Friday nights as was preparing to hit the night clubs.

The bananercise section starts at about the 3:45 mark in the clip. There's also a parody of the TV show Dynasty in the clip.

6. I'm not in Austin, but my sense is that he will get the death penalty.

Too many lives were ended at a young age and there is a lot of commentary as to how irresponsible the man already has been. Some sources are making comments that he has already facing kidnapping charges in Alaska relating to a custody dispute, that he has had six children and he is only 21 year-old, and that the vehicle he was driving was stolen. It's difficult to believe that he is ever going to reform his life.

While Travis county juries are relatively lenient compared to the rest of the state, I don't believe that there are many people that are going to come to his defense and he will probably have a defense attorney appointed so he won't receive adequate representation. I imagine that anyone that feels that they cannot invoke the death penalty will be cut from the jury pool, so he should probably come to terms with the likely outcome.
