Meet U.S. Senate Hopeful Chris Mapp, Who Thinks "Wetbacks" Should Be Shot on Sight

You probably haven't heard of Chris Mapp, a South Texas boat salesman and one of the six also-rans challenging John Cornyn in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate, and here's hoping you never have occasion to hear of him again after March 4.

If you do, chances are disconcertingly high that it will somehow involve a smoking rifle and a dead Mexican. That would at least be in line with what he told the center-right editorial board of The Dallas Morning News, the most influential newspaper in the state:

South Texas businessman Chris Mapp, 53, told this editorial board that ranchers should be allowed to shoot on sight anyone illegally crossing the border on to their land, referred to such people as "wetbacks," and called the president a "socialist son of a bitch."

Mapp elaborates on the topic on his campaign website.

"Let's face it," he writes, "there would be a lot less concrete, roofs, and landscaping without illegal immigrants (yes, illegal immigrants - that is what they are)."

2. Oh, another of our oh-so-clever candidates running for something in Texas.

Their "cleverness" is multiplying like fleas.

3. A treehugger? Against 'concrete, roofs, and landscaping'? What a nature boy!

When will he eliminate of all the 'concrete, roofs, and landscaping' from his place?

Can't take him seriously unless he's willing to make a real sacrifice. Sometime after all of his guns are confiscated. And he goes broke running for office.

Might be interesting to see just who is bankrolling this clown. Please, GOP, keep this guy in the insane clown posse for a long, long time. He makes you look sooo good.

4. There is a comment by Shaun McAlister, Executive Director DFW NORML.

Wow Mr. Mapp! Impressive stuff.

I've never actually seen someone running for a US Senate seat so willing to curse at and belittle veterans, sick children and the millions of voters in this country that are ready to vote for medical marijuana, industrial hemp as well as full blown legalization. It's pretty astounding that you'd be so willing to commit political suicide over the internet before you're even able to reach 1,000 supporters on your campaign's Facebook page.

Are you sure you're looking to represent the people of Texas? Or are you just another bought and paid for chump looking to make a living off of politics? Your cannabis ignorance leads me to believe that you are the latter.

Please accept Tristan Tucker's invitation for a debate on sensible drug policy because clearly someone needs to educate you about cannabis, sir because I can assure you that neither I, nor any of the 58% of Texas voters that support the legalization of marijuana will be voting for you anytime soon. I'm a voting, tax-paying citizen of this state and if you aren't going to represent my people then we'll find someone who will.

Respectfully (even though you don't deserve it),

5. Five polls show Cornyn being pushed into a runoff

Unfortunately this news comes from insane asylum escapee Steve Stockman.
