Progress Texas is calling on Gov. Rick Perry to revoke Rush Limbaughs honorary Texan status in the wake of his comments about Georgetown University student Sandra Fluke.
The groups Phillip Martin said that as of late this afternoon, Progress Texas had 3,085 signatures of support for its online petition. Since the petition was just launched late Friday, he judges that a good response.

(10,021 posts)1. The word honor shouldn't be used in the same sentence with this pathetic little man.

should be forced to live with the shame. He's always been vile and surely they knew it when they gave him the honor.

Worst Honorary Texan Ever: Rush Limbaugh and His Latest Walk of Shame
The Ultimate Horror: Limbaugh as Honorary Texan
It gets worse. This despicable human is an "honorary Texan", per Rick Perry's proclamation in 2009.
The list of honorary Texans is truly bizarre. It includes Shirley MacLaine, the 100th and 442nd infantry divisions of the US Army, Romanian President Nicolae Ceausescu, Arnold Schwarzenegger (chosen by Ann Richards?!), Bob Dylan and Pete Sampras. Perry has given it a more partisan twist in recent years by adding the likes of Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Rudy Giuliani, Sean Hannity and of course Limbaugh.
I, for one, wonder what exactly it takes to become an honorary Texan. Does it involve good deeds? Hazing? Robes and chanting? These are topics for another day. In the meantime, let's get Rush's status revoked. You can sign Progress Texas's petition here.
