Texas Voter Purge Being Set Up

Today I got my new Voter Registration Certificate in the mail. The name did not match my new driver's license and SS card.

I called the County Voter Registrar's Office to ask who was responsible. My driver's license was to expire on my birthday at the end of November, so I was planning to go have it renewed after voting in the early November election. I wanted to pay attention to any problems that might occur to block normal voting. (I did not experience any voting problems by voting early in northeast Tarrant County, which is a part of Senator Wendy Davis's district.) The clerk at the voter registration office said that the Department of Public Safety reported the name incorrectly. I said that there are probably 50 people with my first and last name in this area and probably several hundred in the State. And I wanted to know who was responsible and that I was going to send the County Registrar a certified letter to find that out. The clerk said to just return the card after putting the corrected name on the back. I replied that the card holders are going to be held responsible of all these incorrect voter cards floating around and that they could all be purged. I had better not be the butt of fraud!

How many people, especially women having their Maiden Name removed from their TX Driver's License are going to be purged as large groups because the, 'Republican Establishment' has got to stop the Women of Texas for voting in the coming elections. Our Democratic represenatives need to go to the Judge overseeing the voting rights case and tell the Judge that this is going on now. Seems like Florida and other states have had a voter purge. Many cards with my first and last name could spell voter fraud to Republicans who are trying to make a case for fraud. I want to know the person(s) responsible for branding me with several different alias names in Texas instead of doing what I requested with all the correct paperwork and documents in order to have my one and only name on all documents.

The clerk begged me not to send a certified letter seeking the information to, Steve Reborn, Tarrant County Registrar.

Names matched in both places then "MATCH" was shown in a column. There was a column for the voter to sign to change the voter registration to the same as DPS. There was a card to fill out also. There was also indication if there was not ID. The DPS has rules for the name but voter ID does not. It would be simpler to have the voter ID to match DPS, it is faster for the precinct clerk and voter if these are the same. I could see where the GOP might try to purge the list especially if there is nit a DPS ID and to be honest if there is Democrat associated.

On both records and you can still vote but there might be a requirement to fill out more papers or you can have the voter name changed to your DPS name. I am sure it makes a big difference if you use a second name as your called name and you marry.

had my driver's license, social security card, and everything else changed when I showed them the paperwork calling for it.

It's been such a long time I finally tossed out the divorce decree. Are they that messed up there now?

I never had a problem voting one way or the other when I lived there but tht was quite some years ago.

Just curious. Not going through this where I live now.

My exact words to the clerk were that I wanted my real name on my driver's license, and re-register to vote using my same legal name; first, middle and last name, so that my SS card, TX driver's License and Voter Certificate will all have the same exact legal name. I handed all the documents requested to the DPS as the DPS is registering me for a new voter certificate at their office instead of through the TX Secretary of State or County Voter Registrar. What did I get? Another alias which I reported to the County Voter Registrar who's clerk took the VUID number over the phone. Do I want to return my voter card to the county? If not, will I just lost my right to vote at the booth on election day if the card is rejected? If I send the card back to the County, it might become a collection of cards targeted for a purge.

My maiden name is not on my SS card but yours may be. Right after I married I ask the SSA to change my SS card to reflect my married name so my husband and I could have checking and savings accounts; Texas is a community property State. So I sent the information about what TX county and which book the marriage licenses was recorded at (it is on the license). One can have their name changed by a judge in a court of law.

The problem is that an additional alias voter certificate card has been created (for me) and for what purpose?

be disenfranchised this year. I don't understand why an alias would be created, at all.

I couldn't vote until 1972. The process was so seamless, I don't remember all that was involved. It wasn't attached to having a driver's license. As native born, educated and working there, it was a matter of course that I had the right to vote.

Where I live now, getting a driver's license or state ID for a minor or person who doesn't drive, requires a birth certificate and even a picture that proves one is who one says they are. For example, a high school year book picture has to be required to get a state ID card.

That data is stored and one signs a form that acts as an affidavit that it is true, to register to vote. It keeps on every year the same way. We have mail in which has worked well, it means that many older or disabled or otherwise not able to make it to the polls will get their vote.

I have read of some well known men not being allowed to vote in Texas because of changes and these technicalities. I think of all the folks who are hard working and busy and don't have the money or time to keep up with all of this.

Then they have passed laws in some red states to prevent them getting help with registration. If Davis is elected, I'm sure this will be turned around. Perry and his bunch in the lege are just the worst thing ever.

Keep on it!
