Texas Windstorm Ins Ass votes against levying assessments against insurance companies
GALVESTON — Caught in a legal limbo because of Hurricane Ike and the Texas Legislature, the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association board of directors on Tuesday rejected a proposal to levy millions of dollars against insurance companies to pull the association out of the red after paying Ike claims.
Meanwhile, coastal homeowners will see a 5 percent increase in windstorm insurance premiums purchased through the association.
