Tea Partiers Can't Comprehend Pro-Choice Texans, Gandhi, Among Other Things

The North Texas Tea Party has been making some interesting commentary about the thousands of Texans who came out in opposition to Senate Bill 5 last week as a way to rally their base in the next round of the War on Women at our capitol. This group, following in the footsteps of Perry and Dewhurst, are going to great lengths to delegitimize the diverse coalitions of pro-choice Texans with a few key messages they are repeating in press releases, social media, and talk radio.

They want to deny the existence of pro-choice Texans and dehumanize the group as a mob, all while employing their usual misrepresentation of history and the legacies of revolutionaries who have come before.

The North Texas Tea Party is working to convince their base that the opponents of anti-women legislation couldn't possibly live within the same borders as they do. They are now claiming that our supporters are being bussed in from out of state.

From their Facebook:

It's one thing to disagree, but another to be in complete denial. The far-right is so afraid of their inevitable demise that they believe the best way to challenge this is to deny that pro-choice Texans even exist.

1. Claiming it's an invasion is

the only way to really rile up anyone with a libertarian ideology. Typical: more lies from the GOP.

2. Yes, buses means people from out of state, because

everyone in Texas can just walk down to the capitol building.

3. And their demise IS inevitable. Nothing can grow on total negativity.

They're doomed, and thanks to gawd, they'll take the Republican Party with them. We're at a moment like the Whigs becoming the Republicans.

Be interesting to see what comes next.

5. Teabaggers can't comprehend how to spell words of more than one syllable

They have problems with cat if you spot them the c and the t.

The only thing they know is what they see on Faux News and it's been proven that your mind burns less calories watching TV than it does sleeping-in other words, while watching TV your brain goes into shutdown mode.

6. OMG

I can't believe these people. Well, actually, I can. They are nuts. I'm sorry, but if you have to lie to get support, there is a problem. And denial of a problem leaves you wide open to self-destruction. Let them continue to believe their own bullshit.

8. Juanita Jean's place is great. As you may know

we've had our own problems with state legislature this year. They passed abortion restrictions over the governor's veto, so now the state has to pay to defend the bills in court. Our tax dollars at work.

9. Want to force transparency from an untransparent tea party Republican politician?

We have an extreme tea party Republican in Rosenberg, TX named William "Billy" Benton. Very typical in a "do as I say, not as I do" sort of way. He is very big on "transparency" for others but not so much for himself.

He recently asked for an item to be considered by the city council to the effect that the city only send city-related emails to his personal email address. He thinks that if emails are sent to his personal email, they can't be accessed by the public via an open records request. I think it would be an interesting experiment if some of the good folks here tested his theory and sent the city secretary an email asking for open records access to Benton's personal emails that are related to city business. That is literally all you have to do. This will trigger a situation where he has to deny access to personal email which will automatically escalate the question to the attorney general's office, where I'm sure he will enjoy a protracted legal battle if he wants to keep his public emails private. I know for a fact that he has sent city-related emails from his personal email account so the city will be forced to react.

Send the email to: info@ci.rosenberg.tx.us or call 832-595-3340

The agenda (item #9) where he asked for city-related email to be sent to his personal address can be found here: http://www.ci.rosenberg.tx.us/Modules/ShowDocument.aspx?documentid=5740

10. Welcome to DU!

I'm not from your immediate area so I probably don't have the standing to make that request.

11. Location doesn't matter

Anyone can. Location doesn't matter in the least. People from out of state could do it. It's illegal for the city to ask why the requester wants it. They just have to provide it.

Transparency is a beautiful thing.
