Communities can do little to keep PennEast pipeline out - A-town Morning Call

http://www.mcall.com/news/local/mc-penneast-pipeline-northampton-county-20150627-story.html#page=1

"Residents and municipalities can do little more than share concerns about the project. Pipeline companies such as PennEast don't have to follow local zoning or land development rules when expanding their infrastructure, though some opt to do so as a show of good faith."

"The decision ultimately is up to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, an independent agency that regulates such interstate lines. If FERC determines the line is for the greater good, it can give it the green light."

"I feel the township should have more say, but when it comes to federal stuff, we just don't," Gable said. "There's not much else we can do, other than ask and recommend [PennEast] doesn't come through here."

So, the FERC says, 'We don't give a shit what communities want.' This stuff makes me so mad...
