It is no longer "fracking," it is "Unconventional Gas" (Original Post) JPZenger Oct 2013 OP
No. It's still fracking and fracking is how they get to some forms of unconventional gas. NYC_SKP Oct 2013 #1
It's not "High-Fructose Corn Syrup". It's "Corn Sugar". (Almost had happened.) DetlefK Oct 2013 #2

Nobody is served by confusing the terms.

Unconventional gas is not limited to the gas recovered by fracking.

Unconventional gas (and oil) includes methane hydrates, shale oil, tar sands, and the rest.

Conventional gas and oil was all that stuff that was so easy to extract.

Unconventional is what requires new (and dangerous) technologies like fracking to extract.

Unfortunately, the energy industry and our energy-hungry societies are banking on more and more unconventional fuels to become part of the energy mix, keeping us dependent upon fossil fuels and the companies that provide them.

It's like crack cocaine.

when we use it. Typical. I agree with NYC_SKP, unconventional gas is the product and fracking is the technique used to get the unconventional gas.

No fracking way that I am letting go of that word. It has taken us a long time to educate people on what it is.
