AG Kane files charges against Congressional Aide for sexual assault, after DA refused police request

http://www.mcall.com/news/local/mc-reading-congress-aide-sex-assault-20130926,0,5265905.story

Interesting story. A young man in 2009 said he was sexually assaulted by the long-time top aide to then-Congressman Holden. He called a friend right away to pick him up and reported the crime. The local police investigated and told the Co. DA they wanted charges filed. The Co. DA was a buddy of the aide and never pressed charges.

There are also allegations of threats against a witness, as described in the article.

Then, Kathleen Kane was elected. Her office started their own investigation. Another guy came forward and testified to the grand jury that the aide did the same thing to him when the victim was a teenager. Kane's office has now filed felony charges against the aide.

"There's a new Sheriff in town."

If a county DA has a conflict in an investigation, they are supposed to refer the case to the State AG for an impartial investigation..... hmmmm... let's see... who was the AG in 2009? .... oh, yes, that was Corbett.

This would, by no means, have been the first time that Tommy looked the other way when a county DA was not doing his job correctly. Just ask some lawyers in York County.
