Just sayin'. They have no IDEA how bad. The idiots here are going to destroy this state. If it weren't for work, my butt would be OUTTA here. Call me whiney. Call me a cynic. Call me whatever. But as far as I can see, NC is done.

(4,982 posts). . . planned parenthood shuttered, birth control outlawed, zero corporate regulation, zero corporate taxes, raised property, income taxes and fees on everyone else, unemployment through the roof, social services and unemployment slashed or eliminated, NO MORE early voting or same-day registration, Voter ID laws enacted, and whatever other ALEC model bills are in the pipe, more racial segregation than ever, KKK emboldened, Tea Party emboldened, women and other "minority" populations treated like shit, rural "blue" areas targeted for economic punishment (ie: Chapel Hill, Durham, etc.)
I'm tellin ya: SCREWED
A whole lot of people here are NOT. THINKING. NC is going to be one sorry-ass state - in more ways than one.

(2,730 posts)think so. McCrory want be able to govern once Democrats realize they made a mistake. North Carolina's population is too diverse. The North Carolina State Supreme Court is moderate to Liberal. What I see coming is court cases if McCrory tries to do what he intends. People are just sleep walking because the guy was Mayor of Charlotte and Governor Per due's administration has been corrupt. My suspicion is most People are voting Republican on the State level is because they are fed up with that corruption. Once they start messing with people's benefits and drilling off North Carolina's beautiful coastline, they'll probably wake up then to McCrory. It was the same way during the midterms. A lot of NOrth Carolinians didn't even take the time to vote. That is how the Republicans gained control with the help of outsiders such as the tea Party. I expect once they get a taste by the midterm, Rip van winkle will wake up.

The Tea Party has been workin overtime in NC. But the voters may be surprised at how unresponsive they will be once they get power.
Corruption is everywhere in this country. It's a national problem.

(6,088 posts)The Obama coat tails are probably even longer this year. And Dalton was supported by many Dem leaders in part because he is queasy clean; it is McCrory how has ethical and legal issues from actions when he was an elected official in Charlotte.
Most recent polls show Obama with a slight in NC. Romney is losing support because of his clueless, off-key, inappropriate, unfeeling statements and actions this week.

(4,982 posts)Doing GOTV Saturday - donated a little more to both campaigns. Heard on NPR that Dems are WAY outspent by all the outside Tealiban Koch money going to GOP in NC. Same in other states I presume.

(6,088 posts)People in NC have a lot of experience with hurricanes, their aftermath, what is acceptable behavior, and what is not. And Romney's is really not acceptable. For at least three white males, mid fifties, lifelong Republicans have now voted Democratic for their first time, not just for Obama, but also Dalton, and at least two voted straight ticket!
The conversation I had with one of them was almost the same one I heard about today. Here is them mixed together:
"I'm so disgusted with Romney. Can't stand to watch when he comes on TV. Doesn't know s--t, not how to do anything useful. Just a phony, prancing around up there, giggling. No F-king idea how you feel, what you need, no idea what those people are facing. McCrory is just the same, with that fake smile of his."
You get the idea. One even said that Romney convinced him that he should really be a Democrat.
I think Romney's canned goods mishap and all he's said about FEMA. No one wants to see Romney on TV for the next four years .
I hope a lot of Republicans this same response.

(1,013 posts)I'm sorry and know how you feel. I talked to a guy at the Democratic booth at the state fair about how things might have to get really bad before people wake up to what is happening (or going to happen) in this state. Any yeah, I'm whiny and cynical too.
