Wu: Cuomo closing with ‘outright lies’

Conor Skelding

On primary day, Tim Wu had harsh words for his opponents, saying Governor Andrew Cuomo's campaign was closing "with a series of lies—blatant, outright lies."

Wu leveled the charge at a morning campaign stop in front of the Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club, which backed Wu and his running mate, Zephyr Teachout.

"Reporters asked Andrew Cuomo about the incident where he had his offensive line blocking Zephyr," Wu said, referencing the efforts of Cuomo aides to physically shield Teachout from the governor at a Labor Day parade on Saturday. "They're like, 'What happened there?' And he goes, 'I didn't see her.' Which is just a lie. I was there."

"So the fact that he just sort of so blatantly but casually lies really tells you something about his character. That was an obvious lie, it's verifiable," Wu said.

We need a big turnout in November if we're going to defeat Elise Stefanik.
