Military testing in Missouri high schools

This discussion thread was locked by xmas74 (a host of the Missouri group).

The U.S. Military gave a 3 hour test to 20,549 kids in Missouri high schools last year under the guise of a career exploration program and used the results for recruiting purposes without parental consent. You can stop it like we did in Maryland by simply sending an email we'll write for you to your state's superintendent of schools. Get in touch www.studentprivacy.org info@studentprivacy.org

1. They've been doing this for a long time in Missouri.

When my husband was a sophomore in high school more than ten years ago, they used class time to administer the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery). As the future class valedvictorian, of course he did well, and recruiters hounded him from then until graduation, trying to get him to join.

4. Yeah, I saw your comment that the group already had a spammer (of course after I had replied

here)...oh, well, live and learn. If I'd looked at their username, that might have been a clue.

5. I'll lock the thread now.

There's no reason for it to keep going.

2. I remember taking the ASVAB

when I was in high school about a decade ago (wow...) and I forget exactly how I did, but I certainly didn't have recruiters swarming over me. Probably because I'm horrible at math while good at other things.
