Harkin Retiring

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10022263856

I think Harry Reid caved in and lost Harkin.

So sorry to see him go. He has done so much goo.
But he does give time for someone (Braley) to step up.

1. Harkin is one of the best true blue Dem's we've ever had in the Senate

I agree, think this has everything to do with Reid.
Will we be able to hold onto the seat, or has Iowa become more conserv?

2. hard to tell, but Iowa seems to be trending blue

and the well-known repugs in this state are mostly baggers with appeal only in limited areas.
But we will have to work our asses off.
Good thing Obamacare goes into effect next year - I think that will be an eye-opener.

3. Two big races in 2014!

There's going to be the gubernatorial and the Harkin seat now, plus Olsen just got elected as IDP chair. Busy times lie ahead.

4. I love Bruce - I will never forget the first time Imet him

At a DFA meeting - he came in wearing shorts, sandals and a Hawaiian shirt and gave a speech that knocked my socks off.
I'd follow him anywhere.

6. Dunno about the Reid aspect. But he deserves to retire and enjoy himself.

Has been fighting forever. Hate to see him go. An amazing man and Senator.

Isn't there an amendment to the constitution that you can only be on the Daily Show so many times and you are not eligible for office?
