The local teabaggers are moving me back up on their enemy lists;
Allowing consenting adults to marry the person they love, irrespective of the genders of the adults involved, does not harm this country, and does not harm its citizens.
Maybe that's the question those opposed to marriage equality should ask themselves. Does it do any harm to me or my family if an LGBT couple is allowed to marry? Leave out all the fertilizer about slippery slopes: people marrying children, dogs, inanimate objects, etc. Leave out all the fertilizer about the destruction of society and traditional marriage.
At the end of the day, does marriage equality really do any harm?
So often, marriage equality opponents complain about the destruction of society and the damage to the institution of marriage all while ignoring the harm that some in "traditional marriages" do to themselves, their families, their communities and this country. They rail against marriage equality while ignoring the broken straight families in front of us and the children who are often caught in the middle when straight marriages fall apart.
