George Ryan goes home

So the paper says they're letting him finish his last few months at home, since he's not likely to benefit much from the halfway house.
I never liked the guy, but he's done his time. I hope he can live out the rest of his days in peace and stay the hell out of the political arena.

1. He stopped the death penalty in IL

and he gave a great speech explaining why he did. The reasons he gave should have stopped all death penalty in the country.
That took courage.

3. Agreed, Mo. I've always felt he was acting partially in self interest.

Doesn't change the fact that what he did was WAY overdue, nor does it change the end result of what Ryan did to create his guilt. It just means that I will, personally, always feel his motives were less than pure.

Like a lot of Illinois politics, ya gotta take the good with the bad, I guess...
