Nathan Deal's handout, at the expense of Ga Public Broadcasting

I just got this email from Better Georgia:

(If nothing else, let's get some names on the petition (a link to it is located near the bottom of this link) for Ga Public Broadcasting to fire Chip Rogers)

Dear Groundloop,

If only we all had friends like Gov. Nathan Deal.

Two days ago, disgraced former senator Chip Rogers began a sweetheart
job at Georgia Public Broadcasting making $150,000 per year.

This is twice the amount any other executive producer earns and nearly
three times the amount earned by senior producer Ashlie Wilson Pendley
who bravely resigned from GPB in protest.

Your tax dollars are paying 100 percent of Nathan Deal's
government handout to his political pal Chip Rogers.

We encourage you to read more about the growing scandal:

Better Georgia has worked hard to bring attention to this important
abuse of taxpayer dollars.

This scandal is only growing bigger and we need your support today to
keep this going.

Please make a small donation to Better Georgia right now to make sure
we can keep the pressure on.

1. More GOP cronyism. That smarmfuck does not deserve that job. Dweeb.

Before entering politics, Rogers worked for a sports handicapping service, using the name “Will 'The Winner' Rogers”. He encouraged bettors to dial a "pay-per-call number" and claimed to have an 80% success rate for his predictions. A CEO of a sports pick firm said Rogers was in the “kind of seedy end of the industry.” and "If that’s the biggest skeleton he has in his closet, I say elect him president of the United States.” Rogers said the media stories on the topic were "gutter politics"; he said the work was scripted, and that he was not a sports handicapper. The sports pick firm CEO said that Rogers' claim that he was simply paid to read a script was "stretching the truth. But I know where he’s been as far as not having total editorial control of your content."

Rogers and Tom Graves were sued by Bartow County Bank for a defaulted $2.2 million loan on the Oglethorpe Inn, They had transferred ownership of the hotel to John Edens, but remained as guarantors for the loan. Rogers and Graves settled the matter out of court, with the bank reducing the value of their guaranty to $1.2 million. The Bartow County Bank's former chairman said their acts "contributed significantly" to his bank's eventual failure.

2. Lots of good background information there

I hadn't heard any of that stuff about Tom Graves (though it's hardly surprising). He's my rep, so it's especially helpful to know who I'm dealing with.

5. Nathan Deal is an embarrassment for our state

Remember that Tom Graves replaced Nathan Deal, who resigned in disgrace from the house. Were we surprised that we traded down on our representation? Not really. Tom Graves has fulfilled every expectation of the Tea Party and the GOP.

Should we expect Nathan Deal to act in behalf of Georgians? The fact that the appointment of Chip Rogers (Tom Graves accomplice in crime) is so in your face hurts.

It is a shame.
