Introducing Discussionist: A new forum by the creators of DU

I'd like a serious discussion of why the FL Dem Party can't put together a ground game like OFA!

The FL Dem Party has been anemic the past 2 decades. I'd like to actually win an election at the state level for once.

I'll reserve judgement until after the election, but our party needs some new ideas. I hope they'll prove me wrong. If they don't, I think they need to turn to people like the guy who runs this blog!

2. To a certain extent yes, but mostly....

Its just that they want to keep their spot at the corporate feed trough. Fl Dem Party is controlled by DLC types, and we progressives just aren't terribly enthused by them.
Also, the only union political activity here is teachers, not much else.

3. Democrats aren't even strong enough to pass gas in Tallahasse, let alone legislation.

That is a quote from today's Orlando Sentinel and it's so true. It's time for the DLC types who favor the North Florida Blue Dogs to step aside. It's time to go all in for the I-4 corridor. We've got Southeast FL. With Daytona-Tampa, we could dominate!!!

The Florida Democratic Party is a national joke. Is there any weaker state party, especially for such a large state as Florida? Hell, even California can get a Republican elected governor every once in a while in a solidly blue state.

I'm fed up with the state party. They can post all they want about voter registration numbers but what counts is winning elections using whatever legal means necessary.

4. Yes, the FL Dem Party is very self-serving.

Several incumbent Dems collaberated with repukes to carve themselves safe districts, rather than making neighboring districts more competitive.
And the FDP just hates progressives. They view progressives as a greater enemy than republicans. So, even in liberal districts that could elect a progressive, the FDP works hard to make sure the Dem candidate is a DLCer. It fucking sucks... imagine a whole party structure run by a bunch of Rahm Emanuels.
There are several grassroots groups that work hard... Progressive Democrats of America for example. But such grassroots groups have nowhere near the resources and funding of the party apparatchiks.
