workers comp question,

I am trying to exempt myself as an individual from coverage. I do not have a construction license nor a corporation. I would like to freelance for several companies at different times of the year and allow them to exclude coverage for myself on their policies.

Corporations are permitted to exempt principals (1) used to be up to 3. I would like to have the same rights as a corporation but am finding it's not possible.

Any ideas? I do however have a general liability policy for use when I do work for individuals.

I would like to obtain a Certificate of Exemption from the DPR. It seems they have no idea how to issue one for an individual.

AS to exemptions, only corp officers with ownership are usually able to do that, partnerships also but has to be ownership

to show that I am the owner of myself, and the product I am selling is my labor, without having to file corporate paperwork of any type.

I'm presuming if I were to incorporate under my name, using my own name, I could file the paperwork but it just tees me off to do so.
