Facebook 'friend' request by Judge Schoonover prompts appeals court ruling
An appeals court has ruled in favor of a Seminole County divorcee, who accuses Circuit Judge Linda Schoonover of punishing her by requiring her to fork over an unusually high amount of alimony because she did not "friend" the judge on Facebook.
Schoonover made the "friend" request while the woman's divorce was pending, according to court paperwork.

The woman, Sandra Chace, 49 of Winter Springs, did not reject the "friend" request, according to court paperwork. She just didn't respond.
When Schoonover made her final ruling later, Chace's lawyer alleges in court pleadings, she treated Chace unfairly, ordering her to pay an excessive amount of alimony and allocating to her a disproportionate amount of the couple's debt.
Schoonover ordered Chace, who works for an Orlando commercial real estate brokerage, to make monthly payments to her now ex-husband, Robert Loisel Jr., for seven years, said her attorney Damon Chase.

Granted, the woman made some very poor choices and the divorce was understandable because no one should have to stay in a marriage where there is infidelity. I don't know much about divorce, but, when she told the judge that the roof was leaking and she wasn't getting any support from her husband, the suggestion was for her to move.
I think the children were the ones to pay for that decision.

Feel free to post it, start a new thread, share at FB. Any help she can get is appreciated. I can't share details as the site we belong to has strict standards about sharing as we DO deal with Family Law issues - but she's outlining her struggle with this judge there.
