D.C. snow tourism: When the weather gets bad, the sight-seeing is still good

Hat tip: DCist: Go Home Already: Thawing Out

Snow in D.C. makes for gorgeous sightseeing. {Post}

I got out on cross-country skis and went up and down some paved streets as the snow was ending. I did not get off pavement, though. It was ice-coated by the time I got out, with the ice covered by a thin, quarter-inch, layer of snow.

Snowstorms are stress-inducing on many levels, but the joy of a snow day lives well past youth for many of us. If you don’t believe me, just check out the chatter about the potential of a federal government closure on the night prior to an expected storm.

And as a snow lover, when snow happens in D.C., there’s usually a lot of pre-storm worrying. On rare fortunate occasions it works out almost perfect for forecasters and dreams of snow.

That was the case March 5 throughout the area. And it was glorious.
