Get registered to vote with your current name at your current address by 30 days
before Election Day.
To be registered to vote for the November 6th, 2012 general election, you need to
register no later than October 9th, 2012. But, you can register the same day you vote.

WHAT TO BRING
If you are a first-time voter and did not provide proof of residence when registering,
you will need to show proof of residence in order to cast a regular ballot. And if you
are registering on Election Day, you will need to show proof of residence. Acceptable
forms of proof of residence include the following (they have to include your current
and complete name and current address):
Copy of current and valid photo identification
Copy of a current utility bill (does not include cell phone) with name and
address
Bank statement with name and address
Government check with name and address
Paycheck with name and address
Or other government document that shows your name and address

VOTE!
Election Day is Tuesday, November 6th, 2012, and polls will be
open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Vote Early
Washington, D.C. has early voting available at various locations and on specific dates
between October 22nd, 2012, and November 3rd, 2012. For the latest information on
where, when and how to vote absentee, contact your local board of elections.
Vote by Mail
D.C. has absentee voting by mail for any registered voter, and no excuse is required.
You must mail, hand deliver, or electronically submit your absentee ballot to the
boards office before 8pm on election day; OR
You can deliver your ballot to any early-voting location or polling place on
Election Day.
NOTE: ballots must be postmarked by Election Day.
