I went at nine (the place is on the way to downtown, county offices, so they get a fair amount of traffic earlier.) What was great to see - a group of students from the university voting.

3. Slow up here in the Santa Cruz mountains

My first time as a poll worker

I'm staffing the touch screen machine and the paper ballot counter here at a precinct in the Santa Cruz area. Sadly we've only had 11 voters (plus a few mail in ballot drop-offs) so far. Sure hope it picks up later in the day. I was shocked that this was the first experience for all six of us working this precinct (and somewhat unnerving as it is always nice to have an expert around in case of emergencies).

4. Mail in voting is growing here, every election. Good to see. A weekday can be awkward for many.

Sure would love to see weekend voting. Kudos for your volunteer work at the poll.

7. Weekend voting would be great

Also wish we had same day registration. Don't they have that in some states?

Someone said in our training sessions that around 50% vote by mail up here.

5. We voted by mail but I took our ballots

to the county election office since I work for the county and can walk to the election office from my desk.

6. Have thought about voting by mail. Most of my friends do. Yet I like the whole go to the poll thing.

Walk in, sign in, get your ballot, mark it, slide it into the box & get your "I Voted" sticker.

Plus the polling location is a block away...
