Most of these shots were pretty damaged when I recieved them from various family sources. I used Photoshop to fix em up a little and repair some damage.

I live in Alaska, but originally I am a California native. I was born in Los Angeles and raised there.
As it happens a co-worker mentioned that his family was moving to California, and asked me if I had any recommendations on things to do and sights to see when he got there. I have not been to L.A. in well over 25 years, but upon dwelling on my old childhood and young adult memories..Here is a list I made:

1.Go to Los Angeles China Town across from Union Station (sort of)and order Sea Cucumber in a clay pot and some Crispy Duck!

2. Go to Huntington Beach on Saturday Morning and go Body Surfing

Great photos. As a native of SoCal I can truly relate to them. Whether you lived in the east, west, north or south (formerly south-central) area, the experiences were similar. Family was the center of everything back then, and the great outdoors! Thanks for sharing.

thanks for the vicarious journey back to a place that I never knew, and may have never existed, but would have loved, as clearly as you do too. Very enjoyable, and excellent pics.

My husband and I will probably be moving out to L.A. soon. It's so nice to see these pictures of your family. My son lives there now, so it will be nice to carry on our family out there.

I honestly can't remember

Sometimes I miss Southern California... until I have to drive in it.

I've evened dreamed about being stuck in traffic! Surreal...

These pics bring back memories. Love seeing your family.. it brings a smile to my face this morning.

I left California 9 years ago for Seattle, and miss it every single day. Growing up in Southern California was incredible... I wonder sometimes if it's even possible to go back.

I was about one years old or so when we moved to San Diego (National City).

I have lived in Alaska since I was ten but was out for a few years in the military and back in California.

I can't say I miss it because I haven't been back in close to tenty years.

How did you end up in Alaska?

she asked me to go live with her in Alaska...she kicked me out about a year later...but I stayed...and now it's twenty years later! I'm married to a different inupiat women and have two kids and a house and a little dog...funny thing this life.

How funny it is that you, me and Arctic Dave were all from California before we came to Alaska. I wasn't born there, but I did live in the Bay Area for about seven years before moving up here.
