Republican Rep. Dan Lungren lost his re-election bid to Democratic challenger Ami Bera on Thursday in one of California's most hotly contested congressional contests.
Voters from the Sacramento suburbs ousted the veteran lawmaker in the race for the state's newly redrawn Seventh Congressional District. This was the second attempt for Bera, a 45-year-old physician who failed to unseat Lungren, R-Gold River (Sacramento County), two years ago.
This guy has milked the political world for over 20 years. It is time for this GOP junky to retire. He has contaminated my district for to long and it was a safe RED zone. The man who replaced him is BETTER and ready. This week Lungren gave the freshmen guidance and he was looking at his replacement ;o)
