Election Season Deadlines

Feb 5, 2016 (San Diego) The first electoral contests in the Presidential Primaries have started, and California comes late in the calendar. That said, there are some important things to take into account.

The Motor Voter Bill signed by the Governor will not come into implementation until 2017. If you were counting on an automatic registration when you renew, you will still have to do it the old fashioned way. When it comes into effect, you sill need to change your party and status manually in between renewals.

California is an open primary state, which means if you are registered as an Independent you can vote in either primary.
