Related: About this forum$50K a night in San Jose? Welcome to the Super Bowl circus (xpost from Sports)
http://www.mercurynews.com/sports/ci_29262914They say money can't buy happiness, but it can buy some really good stuff. Today's example is the Ultimate Super Bowl 50 Package announced by the San Jose's Fairmont Hotel. It includes eight tickets to the Super Bowl, a three-night stay in the hotel's Presidential Suite and a Sonoma getaway the day before the big game Feb. 7.
The price tag? Just $50,000 a night. My colleague, Travel Editor Linda Zavoral, breaks down all the perks of the package at http://blogs.mercurynews.com/eat-drink-play. We've known for a while that most of the big money is going to be spent in San Francisco, but this is a sure sign that things could get very crazy here in the South Bay as the milestone game approaches. The idea of someone plunking down six figures to stay in San Jose during the Super Bowl would have been unthinkable a few years ago.
Now, it's not only thinkable, but darn likely. The circus has started, so hold onto your seats.

OP
Why do I think this will be some corporate piggie fest paid for by the taxpayers?

(14,449 posts)1. Divide that by 8 and it becomes much more affordable
I think it's cool for a once in a lifetime experience. I went on a 12 day cruise a few years ago to the Bultic. It cost 7 grand for a suite. It will be a trip I remember forever. Same with those that spend the week at the Super Bowl. We all spend money on events that perhaps are expensive, but the memories make it worth it.
