Live in or around Tucson or Phoenix and need to stretch your food budget?
Check these guys out. Apparently, they collect produce that supermarkets won't buy because it doesn't look perfect. Literally tens of thousands of lbs and they distribute it throughout the metro Tucson/Phoenix area. For $10.00 you get about 60 lbs of produce. Seems to be weekly. I'm going to try it out and give my local relatives a care pkg.
3. Apparently, these people take the tomato that isn't the perfect shade of red or
The pear that isn't the perfect pear shape and make it available to you and me and those who are less fortunate. They call it food rescue. In my mind, it's an amazing concept. The food tastes the same and after it's chopped up and served, who knew that it didn't look like the crap on the T.V.
Maybe you could use this to help your extended family stretch their budget. Maybe you could help out less fortunate neighbors, maybe your church group has members that could use some help, maybe you live in a commune. I can't see a downside to this!
