Brewer can't run again in 2014, Bennett says - HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!!!

Brewer can't run again in 2014, Bennett says
Says portion of a term counts as a full term under constitution

PHOENIX - The state's chief election officer said Monday that his interpretation of state law is that Republican Jan Brewer's reign as governor must end in January 2015, no matter what she and her lawyer say.

Secretary of State Ken Bennett said he understands Brewer believes that the two years she spent finishing off Democrat Janet Napolitano's term do not count toward the two-term limit voters mandated in 1992.

Brewer, elected in her own right at the 2010 election, is saying she could run again in 2014 if she wants, although she has not yet decided if she will.

Bennett, who was appointed to his post in 2009 when Brewer became governor, said he has not studied the legal arguments about a third term being advanced by Joe Kanefield, the governor's former legal counsel.

more good stuff (he is probably going to run) http://azstarnet.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/elections/brewer-can-t-run-again-in-bennett-says/article_603fe9da-5a7e-52b1-af21-9f7ed00d8365.html

1. Lets hope for the sake of the people in AZ she can't run

She's just another nasty Republican with issues. And, by the way, she needs to stay out of the sun more. Talk about some severely sun-damaged skin. Maybe she should just start using spray-on tan like Willard and Boner.

2. Until this is fully and legally decided.

I am not holding my breath.

In a twisted way, I wish she could run again. Politicians seeking re-election are more like to compromise and be moderate. As governor for the next two years, she can still rain down more economic hardship horrors for us here in Arizona. And if she can't run, I really wonder what she has in store for us.

3. you do have a good point

still, even if she was running, there is not much moderate about most of the voters who would vote for her anyway. Not sure if she could appeal to undecideds that lean moderate to left no matter what she does.

4. Sadly, it is only a good point if both parties were equally rational

and put the best interests of their constituents ahead of their own narcissistic ideologies.

Arizona is a bit too Tea Party red right now to truly expect that even if she was running in a more moderate way. Her majority base simply would not accept it sadly.

5. How about she runs, gets challenged by the tea party in the primary and such a blood bath that a Dem

wins?

6. Good in theory perhaps

but despite all of the protestations here to the contrary, I really don't see Arizona turning blue any time soon.

A worse Tea Party candidate could make matters worse.

7. It is about time.

Brewer represents everything that is wrong with modern American politics.
