Survivor Worlds Apart- Episode 3 discussion thread

I loved last night's episode and sadly, I think the right decision was made on voting out Nina. She played a terrible game. But I was really interested in how badly all of the blue collar member are playing. It seems like they all want to lose, but are just too strong to lose at a challenge. Once they lose one and go to tribal, its going to be FUN to watch!

So we start off with the Hippies returning from tribal and no one understanding what happened. Nina can't believe Will flipped, Joe and Jenn don't understand why he voted out Vince. They are not too upset that Vince was ousted, but are more upset that it was a surprise. Will made a big mistake in not getting them on board with his plan. Then Nina continued the play that got her evicted. She just begged them not to isolate her and blamed her hearign loss again. It is annoying. I truly do not think anyone on the tribe disliked her for her disability, instead it was because she never bonded with anyone. She played poorly. Of course the fun loving hippies found a way to surf. While I like Joe and Jenn, its getting annoying. Oh, and Joe was the big provder by catching a salamander for them to eat. Wow, they are in trouble.

Over at the corporate tribe, a dressed Shirin (hopefully they are all dressed this episode) watches some monkeys banging and proceeds to run back to camp to talk about how cool it was. No one seemed to care too much. she is clearly not bonding with any of them. There was some idol hunting and Shirin wanted them all to make a truce not to look for the idol, but that seemed totally stupid, so no one went for it. Joaquin, who has a clue and can;t find it, pulls Tyler aside to show him the clue. It seems to have worked because Tyler, who already knows the idol has been found, thinks Joaquin may be trustable. With the awkward Shirin's strange behavior, Joaquin may be making some good moves.

But all the fun was over on the blue collar tribe. These people are all insane. Dan is trying to be funny and instead he calls out the bodybuilder's mother in some poorly worded "your mama is a whore" joke. Rodney is pissed and Dan is threatened. But then Mike pulls his "no one is working" rant and the anger shifts to him. Rodney gets into it with Mike about not doing things on Mike Time and doing things on Rodney time. Rodney acts like a child, Mike is bossy, Dan is flat out nuts, Lindsey is acting like a spoiled kid fighting with her dad. Its all fun to watch.

So we get to the challenge. They have to carry a large bucket with holes to a water tower, fill it and try to plug the holes while running back through obstacles to try to get as much water back to the start to dump into a basin. The first to fill the basin and trip the rising flag mechanism wins. First tribe get immunity and the comfort reward with chairs, pillows, blankets and a tarp. Second place avoids tribal and gets a tarp.

For some reason, Joe decides he does not want to win. He sends Nina back over the obstacles before the rest of them. i think it was because he thought she would slow them down. But without her help to move the bucket or plug holes, they went slower and lost more water. The hippies fall way behind the other two tribes and can not make up the lost time. Plus, they dumped a lot of water out by missing their basin at the finish line. Will was winded again. He is strong out of the gates, but lacks stamina.

Blue collar finish first, followed closely by corporate, but the hippies go back to Tribal. Jeff, I so LOVE Probst, doesn't wait for Tribal. He grills them right at the challenge asking what was up with sending Nina back. Joe takes the blame. Back at camp, Joe takes full responsibility for losing the challenge but its clear he is in total power there. This is one strange tribe. Will lobbies to vote Nina out. Nina lobbies that Will is not in teh physical shape to help the tribe. Joe and Jenn are making the decision and discuss whether they are going to trust Will after his switch at the last tribal.

Tribal is was clear that Nina was going. The editing tried to make it fun, but it was clear. Nina goes home.

I liked the episode, because it set up what I hope is insanity in the blue collar tribe. Liking this so far.

I was bummed that they got rid of Nina....Will is a total liability in challenges...almost completely bloody useless...

At this point I think it is going to take a minor miracle for them to make it to a merge without losing any more members...

Blue collar is ready to implode/explode...but if they keep winning challenges we're not going to see any TC fireworks...

Interesting that none of the white collar geniuses figured out that maybe the reason that one player didn't join in the idol hunt was because she already had it...for a bunch of allegedly smart people they seem to be having some real hard time with some very basic survivor concepts...

I agree...good season so far...

I was bummed that they got rid of Nina because I liked her, but she totally had to go. She played terribly. From the start, she never went out of her way to bond with the younger women and Joe. You need to find out what makes you different from the group, and get them to embrace it or otherwise show its nothing for them to even think about. Plus, her whining was annoying.

I agree on Will, total liability in challenges. Maybe he will show some use, but he is the next to go. When its just Joe and the other 3, if its just 3 person challenges, I suspect they can compete with anyone other 3.

I am excited about the inevitable Blue collar implosion.

I think the corporate folks must have known that the idol was out of play. They edit a lot of that out. We miss a lot.

It persuaded me, and I wasn't exactly on Team Nina. She definitely had been more useful in challenges than Will, nice as he is. But, too little too late I guess.

Really perplexing move by Joe, in the challenge. Was his ulterior motive to set Nina up? Stupid move. I'd be skeptical, if I were his teammates, of any strategy he proposes in future. Weak tribe.

The testosterone battle on blue collar tribe was fun. Loved the little smile on one of the women's faces, don't remember who. The men don't realize the weakness they display, as they roar & paw the ground in all their manly fury, lol. If the women are smart they're filing away what they now know about those two for future use.

Yeah, Shirin and Dave, not the brightest bulbs on the tree, are they, in how to interact with their tribemates. Maybe Jeff will do an auction & they can buy a clue.

...No matter how badly she played the game, she wasn't the epic level of suck that Will was at challenges...I think they are going to continue to lose the challenges and get picked off one by one...

not much to say that has not been said.

Blue Collar is cracking me up. I am waiting for the inevitable chest bumping and strutting away and circling.

White collar is an odd tribe. One would have thought if you came back and woke up your tribe mates with a story about the Howler Monkeys making it and they all just laid there you would stop talking. She went on and on. She is different.

No collar is perfect. Perfect no collar. I did not want to see Nina go. Yes she was annoying and played herself all wrong. If that was me I would have somehow had them all looking out for me. You don't have to be weak and whiny to get people to care about you and help you. With her age and deafness she could have gone a lot further if she had not played like she did. Will has to go. Nothing particularly wrong with him, he is very likeable but certainly not in good enough shape to help with challenges.

Actually I am just glad creepy Vince is gone. He could have been a lot of fun if he had just been a little less creepy with the ladies. Ahh well. Plenty of he man in the blue collar tribe. More fun when it is directed male to male.
