Downton was absolutely exceptional tonight, indeed! I was a bit taken back that it was a 2

hour run but delighted just the same.

The whole Thomas story was nothing short of brilliant, the resolution of the story about the maid who had gotten pregnant also brilliant. Just fantastic. I also liked how Tom and Matthew got resolved vis a vis lord grantham.

5. I hope they give him a boyfriend next season...

Don't want to have unrequited love be his sole goal in life.

2. Sigh.

Next Sunday's episode is the resolution of season 3.

The good news! They're starting work on season 4.

3. I heard that too but I just got 'caught up' in the series this season and having been waiting

for it to end so I can catch up on seasons 1 & 2.

Glad to hear there will be a season 4!

6. The spoilers for next week look great.

This episode was wonderful. Lord Grantham was redeemed in several ways, and it looks like Mary and Matthew might be having a baby!

The story about Thomas was fabulous, and generally, I like the resolution, although I suspect Thomas would rather have other coworkers.

I hope someone else finds out about O'Brien and "Her Ladyship's Soap".

But, spoiler alert:
I think we might see tragedy next Sunday.

8. I don't know about 'the soap' as it might have been something I missed in the earlier episodes.

If it isn't a spoiler, can you fill me in on this?

9. Not a spoiler...

Near the end of season 1, Matthew was unsure of whether he wanted to be the next Earl of Grantham. But Cora found out she was pregnant. The Earl and Cora were hoping for a baby boy.

The Dowager Violet's ladies' maid was leaving to get married (the Dowager commented on how selfish she was for that), and Cora told her she would place an advertisement in The Lady (magazine for noble women) for her.

O'Brien overheard something incorrectly and thought Cora was going to replace her. She was pissed.

While Cora was bathing, she dropped her bar of soap on the floor. Instead of retrieving it, O'Brien gently kicked it over where Cora would step on it getting out of the tub. While in Cora's dressing room, OBrian realized that intentionally trying to hurt Cora was wrong, and she yelled out to her not to get up out of the tub. But it was too late, Cora had gotten up, slipped on the soap, fell hard and lost the baby. Everyone was stunned and saddened. And the fetus was male. Cora and Robert were beside themselves.

I'm trying to remember: I think O'Brien had said something to Thomas about the soap being a maid's trick prior to the accident happening. Thomas and O'Brien were always conspiring together back then.

I know the prior seasons are on Hulu.

15. Thanks so much. I'll pay attention for that when watching Season 1 right after 3's last episode

this weekend.

10. How did Bates find out about the soap? I'm pretty

certain O'Brien hasn't told anyone what happened. She tried to apologize to Cora when she was sick with the flu, but even then she didn't really say what she had done.

11. Apparently Thomas thought of it

when Mr Bates asked him if he had anything at all to use against Ms O'Brien. That's all it took to change O'Brien's sway over James regarding his insistence that Thomas not be given a reference.

What is outrageous is that the good, decent people are dying while the evilest of all people O'Brien lives on and never gets what is due her for all the wicked scheming she has done.

7. Yes, better than the other episodes. I have already

forgotten some of the Dowager quotes but she had plenty of good ones tonight. And I am enjoying the Ethel storyline. I'd like to think that some women stood up for themselves!

I think I want to call myself Dame Phentex now.

20. Oh that's right! How could I forget?

Thanks! I thought I heard someone refer to her as a he. I'm watching the finale again right now. The first time I'm more interested in the script. Now I can zero in on the acting, the decorations and the countryside...the s stormy sky...just beautiful!
