House of Cards, anyone??????

I got Netflix for this. Also a new smart TV, lol. I actually needed a new TV so that was already on my 'waiting to purchase list' anyway. Just didn't think I'd be getting a smart tv, it's nice. Now I'll probably be keeping Netflix and paying for it too, sigh.

I gobbled up all 13 episodes of HoC's. Each episode was better than the previous one! It's a great show and what can I say about the fabulous Kevin Spacey other than he's simply a great actor. Robin Wright is excellent too.

1. We watched the first 3 "chapters" last night.

Looks like Kevin Spacey is producing and starring in one of the best TV political dramas ever.
In a way, I'm surprised it took him so long!
He was destined to play that kind of role.

I have to say, however, that I think Robin Wright is horrible.
But then, I've always thought that about her.
Stiff and lifeless, no emotion, just a blah of an actor.
I feel like I've probably seen half of the things she's been in, and she was the weak link in all of them.

Everybody else is pretty good though.
I'm looking forward to watching the rest of the series.
It's like candy for political junkies...

2. It kinda makes me wonder just how close to reality the show really is.....

Much of it seems like it's the way they operate in DC, reporters included.

I thought it was ok at the beginning but by the time I got to episode 13 I was totally in love with the show.

Do we have to wait until next year for season two? That's gonna suck!

5. Yes, watched it

I did a 2 night marathon and watched them all. Really well done and definitely holds it's own against the original British version. (I still love the original the best, I confess) I think it did drag a bit when it was focusing on the teachers strike part, but only a little. I wanted to beat the Congressman Russo character at one point, which I won't describe in case someone has not watched all the way through yet. I guess it had to be that way for the plot to go on, but it can be so frustrating to see what's coming and the character continues to be oblivious to the danger ahead.

I have not seen so far when the second season will be shown. I assume next year, which will be a really long wait. Anyway, kudos to Netflix for a good job on this one. It sounds like they have some other interesting projects in the works.

I don't have a smart tv........yet I use my blu ray player for my netflix--wireless wi-fi.

Will check back after I've watched a few episodes. Now that I've you liked it I can't wait to watch, we seem to like a lot of the same shows.

9. I was ready to give up after the first couple of episodes...BUT

I decided to hang with it and just finished the last episode.

I think they changed director after the first couple of episodes because the lead and background music was more fast paced and they got into a groove with it.

It's fascinating. And seems chillingly accurate in the political interactions between the Pols, the Press, Foundations, Lobbyists and the Bubble that excludes "outsiders" unless they can be used.

It's gritty and chilling. I'm familiar with SC Politicians and Kevn Spacey did an incredible job in his portrayal. His cold blooded wife was nicely done with Robin Wright...who was more complicated towards the end of the first series than one would have thought.

Will be interesting to see what they do with her "teeny bit" more compassionate side in the next series. Does she morph?

Anyway don't wan't to be a spoiler. Just saying that for those of us who've lived politics for a couple of decades it's a must watch, and explains much that we've seen and sensed goes on in the Halls of Power Bubble in a revealing and entertaining way.

For those who don't get into it in the first couple of episodes...stay with it for another two to see if you don't get hooked.

11. I agree. I was saying to myself by the end of the 13 episodes...

I think this is how they actually operate in DC and that includes the media. Glad you mentioned about what we sensed going on. I don't think I like what goes on in DC. But the show is really something.

14. Yeah here I am on 12 thankfully I am not a church goer

It is sad that no one on this series will be able to win any awards though. They aren't on TV and aren't a movie.
